Our good friend Jerry, who lives in Taiwan, sent us some amazing photos the other day. He recently went to a store at some shopping mall in Taipei City called "Taiwan Figure Union". He said he saw a lot of awesome stuff, such as these 12" Batman Movie Custom Figures that some Bat-Fans got to display in the front store windows. I have to say that they are all very impressive with really great head sculpts. I mean, some of them look just like the original actors! The main focus for most of the dolls appear to be the 2005 BATMAN BEGINS movie, but in photo #2 we get to see a version from an earlier Batman movie, maybe 1992 BATMAN RETURNS-inspired. They made one of the "R'as al Ghul" character & it looks exactly like Liam Neeson, ha! They also made a more Modern Day "Comic Book JOKER" but used the body from THE DARK KNIGHT Heath Ledger figure by HOT TOYS ( in fact, I think all these customs were made using HOT TOYS bodies and it was just the heads & clothing that were customized ). The one of Police Sergeant Jim Gordon is one of my personal favorites as they did an amazing job on Gary Oldman's face. They did a few variations on Bruce Wayne's character which are pretty interesting. Overall, I would have to say that I'm very very impressed with all of these. As a side-note: I'm not really sure if they were all done by one artist or many different ones, but either way, very great work! Also, I wanna thank Jerry for taking the time to shoot these pics & sharing his love of the Batman Character with us. It's really neat seeing what goes on in Taiwan & it's so cool that there are serious Bat-Fans there too!!

Well, it looks like DC Direct is going to release a few statues to capitalize on the popularity of it's new multi-player video game titled DC UNIVERSE ONLINE. Now, for people who have not heard of this game it's going to be a lot like "World of Warcraft" where you can become any DC Comics Comic Book Character & then enter the DC Universe ( Batman's Gotham City, Superman's Metropolis, & other famous places ). It's been totally art directed by Jim Lee so you know it will look extremely cool! In fact, he's the artist who designed each statue here: Batman & Catwoman! They are both a hand-painted, cold-cast porcelain figure measuring a little over 7" tall & will be packaged in a 4-color box. The release date is November 17th, 2010 so be sure to keep an eye out for them...MEOW!
WOW! I know a lot of Batman Fans are totally excited right now about the next animated film from Warner Bros / DC Universe because they're doing BATMAN: UNDER THE RED HOOD. Well, here's what the cover art to the DVD will look like & a photo of one of the 1st product tie-ins to the movie. It's a hand-painted cold-cast porcelain maquette of Red Hood. This statue will be released by DC Direct around July 7th, 2010. It measures about 9 1/2" tall & will be very limited to only 1000 pieces. It was sculpted by Derek Miller. Be sure to stay tuned to the Bat-Blog for all the breaking news about this new animation adventure. Plus, you can visit the Official BATMAN: UNDER THE RED HOOD Website by clicking HERE!

Yesterday was a very sad day for many comic book fans. A legend, an icon actually, passed away. Of course I'm talking about Dick Giordano. Mr. Giordano worked in the comic book industry most of his life. He was an incredible artist & was quite prolific. As a very young comic book fan & collector I was always drawn to his artwork. He drew many of the comic book characters that I really loved. I ALWAYS recognized his art, almost right away. He had a very unique style. It was very realistic, especially his background scenes, & always interesting. His line work was sort of fast & fluid, but he always attached a great amount of detail in a way that seemed effortless. He also created a lot of stock art that was used on paperback books, calendars, products, & other bits of marketing. So, even if you didn't read the comics he drew his art seemed to be everywhere! It saddens me to say that I never got to meet him. I know a lot of people who did & every single person has told me that he was totally great to be around, that he was very down to earth, kind to a fault, & very funny. I'll always be a fan of his work and, with his passing, I even sort of feel like I have lost a part of my childhood. So, I want to thank him personally for all of his great work & for his friends & family I hope they find some peace very soon. He will be missed by many many people. R.I.P Dick Giordano, 1932 - 2010. As sort a side note I would like to tell people that the picture down below is a "Tribute Wallpaper" I made last night. Please feel free to use it to remember this great man, thanks.

I'm feeling pretty tired so I thought I would just post a few very funny Batman-related Comic Strips & Humor Photos. They're easy to post & always a lot of fun ( we all need a good laugh every now & then ). Also, many of these were sent in by a few Bat-Blog Readers so I want to thank them...they ROCK! ( My favorite is the one with the cute kid who has chocolate pudding all over his face. He really does look like the Joker from THE DARK KNIGHT movie, ha ha ha! )
I just recently realized that, like a moron, I didn't post any FREE Batman Backgrounds on "Wacky Wallpaper Wednesday". So, to make up for it here are 2 really great ones you will hopefully enjoy. They came about because of a suggestion from a friend named Satish. He said he wanted to see some "Neal Adams artwork". These wallpapers were made with graphics that were found on the front / back of some Vintage 1970's LP Album Covers. Remember those awesome stories published by POWER RECORDS? Well, here they are! In that one with Batman and Robin's faces I seriously love that old Batmobile car, very cool! The other one has the Joker which is always fun. Now remember, you can click on the button down below for the 20 or so most recent Batman Wallpaper Backgrounds or you can dig through our BAT-BLOG ARCHIVES where you can find hundreds of them. The "Archives" are located on the left side of this page, about half way down.

Here's an extremely awesome set of photos sent in by a Bat-Blog Fan all the way from Egypt! Yes, Egypt! His name is Myret & he wrote,
"Here are some pics I took in downtown Cairo of a building that has an advertisement of the "Batman and Robin" movie on it's side. It's been up since 1997, so it's a little bit rough around the edges, but it's still cool. The translation of what is written is "NOW IN ALL CINEMAS IN CAIRO AND ALEXANDRIA - BATMAN AND ROBIN!"WOW! Thank you so much Myret for sending this, it's totally GREAT! The fact that this wall mural ad has existed all this time & has never been painted-over is very cool news. I totally love this!
PLEASE VOTE TODAY! Our friend, Graphic Artist Gerry Cleary, has entered his "Bat Oceanic Repellent" graphic into a Threadless T-Shirt Design Contest & needs your vote today! It only has a few days left to go & it's getting close. So, please click the link provided here & vote for him! CLICK HERE!

YES Boys & Girls! It's time again for a World Famous Bat-Blog Contest where this time the prize we're giving away is an incredible BATMAN BUST Statue from the HEROES OF THE DC UNIVERSE Collection ( it's the 2nd piece to the series )! Oh man, it's so beautiful! Seriously, when I opened the box I was kind of shocked by how nice this thing actually is ( photos don't do it justice ). The details are really insane. You can see "wrinkles" in Batman's Bat-Suit Costume that look very realistic. The base of the statue is meant to look like Gotham City's Dark Knight is perched on a rooftop, near a Gargoyle, & that part looks like it is actually stone & brick material. This hand-painted, cold-cast porcelain bust measures approximately 6" high x 3 1/4" wide x 4 1/2" deep and is packaged in a 4-color box. Overall, the whole thing is very highly detailed. Batman is holding his Bat-a-rang & it looks very real too. The rope is actually a very thick wire & looks kinda neat. Also, the paint job on this baby is really great... the colors are extremely accurate! I could go on & on about how wonderful it is but if you win you'll see. Now, how to enter. You must email us your Full Name & Address. You can only enter once & you must also put "BAT-BLOG CONTEST : BATMAN BUST #1" in the title of your email. The Bat-Blog became friends with a Batman Memorabilia Collector in Thailand known as "The BAT-CAT" & he has one of the very best Vintage Batman Toy Collections I have ever seen! He sent us a few photos to share & they feature just a part of his collection of Vintage 1960's and 1970's Batmobile Tin Toy Cars, a few Ray Guns, & even a Batman Robot or two. Yes! Robots!! Most of the vehicles are from Japan but there's also some from Italy & Argentina. I gotta say that my favorites are the older Japanese Batman Toys. All of them are in really great shape & some of them still have their original box or package. Please take a good look at each picture. They will make you totally cry & drool for days! I think the most unusual piece is the "Batman Cowboy Gun". Made from tin metal, it's extremely RARE & very exotic. BAT-CAT also owns a few Tin Toys of the Original LINCOLN FUTURA Car that the Custom 1966 Batman TV Show Car was based on ( 1st pic ) and that's pretty cool!! I wanna thank Bat-Cat for taking the time to shoot these wonderful pics & let him know that I am totally jealous, ha ha! but all kidding aside, I really appreciate it & you have some amazing stuff here, thanks again!
Here's some really cool BATMAN SUPERHERO PAJAMAS for Little Boys we saw the other night over at the "Crazy For Bargains" website. The graphics range from "Lego Batman" to the new "Batman: The Brave and The Bold" cartoon. They even have one pair that looks like it's from "The Dark Knight" movie &, of course, they have the Classic Superheroes Costume-Style with Cape. For more information on where to buy them just click on the link button down below.
